West Darfur Governor Khamis Abakar Assassinated

West Darfur Governor Khamis Abakar, who had publicly accused the RSF of genocide against the Massalit, was killed at RSF-controlled Geneina International Airport as he attempted to evacuate. His assassination was widely attributed to the RSF. Days later, Sudanese Red Crescent staff counted 2,000 bodies on Geneina's streets before being overwhelmed by the scale.
