Resistance Ambushes Junta Reinforcement Convoy Near Kawkareik — 15+ Soldiers Killed

Resistance forces ambushed an 8-truck junta reinforcement convoy on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik section of the Asian Highway in Karen State at around 11:20am on July 18, 2026, killing at least 15 soldiers and injuring more than 20; one vehicle overturned in the attack. Casualties were taken to Myawaddy Hospital. The ambush is among the deadliest single strikes on junta reinforcements along the strategic Thai border trade corridor in recent months.
