Junta Fighter Jet Drops 500-Pound Bombs on Ma-Ei Town, Toungup Township — 5 Killed
At approximately 11:30am on July 19, 2026, a junta fighter jet dropped three 500-pound bombs on Wards 2 and 3 of Ma-Ei town, Toungup Township, Rakhine State, killing 5 people — Maung Htun Lin Zaw (17), Ma La Pyae San (19), Ko Nyi Nyi Htwe (19), Ma Mu Mu Htay (35), and Ko Nyi Nyi Zaw (34) — and injuring 14 others, including a wounded Buddhist monk (Ashin Kawida). More than 10 houses were damaged. In response, the Arakan Army publicly vowed to 'respond to every military assault on AA-controlled territory' in collaboration with partner organizations.
