PDF Ambush Kills 2 Junta Troops in Setottara Township, Sagaing — Final Day of Thingyan

On April 16, 2026 — the final day of Myanmar's Thingyan Water Festival — resistance forces in Setottara Township (Sagaing Region) ambushed a Myanmar junta military patrol, killing two SAC soldiers and wounding one. Setottara Township (Sit Tike) sits in northern Sagaing Region, where PDF units have conducted sustained guerrilla operations against SAC patrols and supply columns throughout 2025–2026. The attack demonstrates that resistance forces in Sagaing continued active operations even as the SAC conducted its own Thingyan-period air campaign — both sides refusing a holiday ceasefire. The Thingyan period (April 13–16, 2026) saw the SAC conduct 110+ aerial attacks in Ayadaw Township alone while the PDF maintained ground operations across Sagaing and Magway.
