The Blitz — Germany Bombs British Cities
After failing to destroy the RAF, Germany shifted to bombing British cities — the Blitz — targeting London nightly for 57 consecutive nights. Over the following months, the Luftwaffe bombed Coventry, Birmingham, Liverpool, Plymouth, and other industrial centers. Approximately 43,000 British civilians died in the Blitz, but morale held.
