UN: Sudan Drone Strikes on Civilians Mark Sharp Increase; Al Sunut Funeral Strike Confirmed

The United Nations issued a statement on March 30 condemning 'repeated drone attacks on civilians' in Sudan as constituting a sharp and alarming increase in strikes on civilian-populated areas. The UN specifically highlighted the March 27 SAF drone strike on a funeral gathering in Al Sunut, West Kordofan, which killed 7 and wounded 39 civilians. UN human rights officials stated such drone attacks 'may constitute war crimes' and called for immediate cessation of strikes on civilian targets. OCHA confirmed Al Sunut casualty figures. The SPLM-N reported that Al Sunut had been hit by three separate drone strikes within one week, with a total toll exceeding 60 killed and 100 wounded across the cluster.
