425+ Families Flee Geissan (Blue Nile) Amid RSF-SPLM-N Military Buildup; Roseires Dam Fears Grow
At least 425 families fled Geissan district in Blue Nile State on March 27–28 as RSF-SPLM-N forces built up military pressure on the area, five days after the fall of Kurmuk. The Emergency Chamber in Geissan called for urgent intervention, including safe humanitarian corridors. Geissan is approximately 200 km southeast of Ed Damazin, the state capital, and its fall would directly threaten both Ed Damazin and the Roseires Dam — Sudan's second-largest hydroelectric facility providing electricity to much of central Sudan. Displaced families faced severe shortages of food, shelter, and basic services upon arrival. Total displacement to Ed Damazin since Eid al-Fitr reached over 73,000.
