RSF Recaptures Bara and Seizes Karnoi; SAF Repels Dilling Assault
RSF forces seized the strategic city of Bara in North Kordofan — the second-largest city in the state and approximately 45 km east of the state capital El Obeid — in a dawn assault deploying dozens of combat vehicles, drones, and artillery. The SAF had recaptured Bara only 10 days earlier. The RSF also seized the border town of Karnoi in North Darfur on the same day. In a separate engagement, the RSF and allied SPLM-N al-Hilu militia assaulted the highway town of Dilling, 100 miles south of El Obeid, but the SAF repelled the attack. The loss of Bara continued the RSF's strategy of encircling El Obeid, which would secure Sudan's central east-west axis and bring the RSF closer to Khartoum.
