US Formally Designates RSF Genocide in Darfur

The US State Department under the Biden administration formally declared that RSF and allied militias committed acts of genocide in Darfur. US also sanctioned RSF leader Hemedti and subsequently sanctioned SAF leader Burhan for the SAF's own atrocities and obstruction of humanitarian aid. The genocide designation was the most serious international legal finding since the war began.
