WTC South Tower Collapses

The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapses in approximately 10 seconds after burning for 56 minutes following the impact of Flight 175. The collapse begins at the impact floors, where steel had been weakened by jet fuel fires. Approximately 600 people are killed in the collapse, including first responders. A massive cloud of dust engulfs Lower Manhattan.
