MBS Visits Cairo, Secures Egyptian Backing for Red Sea Security Amid Houthi Escalation

Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Cairo on Sept 15, 2026 for a working visit, received at the airport by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi before bilateral talks and an expanded delegation session at Al-Ittihadiya Palace. The two leaders affirmed that Gulf security is 'an integral part of Egypt's national security,' with el-Sisi backing Saudi calls for secure, unhindered navigation in the Red Sea. Talks also covered Gaza, Sudan and Yemen. The visit came a day after Egypt condemned that week's Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia as a violation of international law.
