Houthi Ballistic Missile Aimed at Riyadh Intercepted — First Strike Attempt on Capital

The Saudi-led coalition's Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis toward Riyadh at dawn on Sept 19, 2026 — the first time the Saudi capital has been targeted since fighting escalated as a spillover of the wider Iran war. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said attempted attacks on Bisha, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu were also thwarted by air defenses.
