Israeli Ambassador Confirms Zerón Extradition Still 'In Study' — No Progress

| Peña Nieto (2012–2018)

Israel's ambassador to Mexico confirmed that the extradition request for Tomás Zerón de Lucio — the former AIC director who fled to Israel in 2019 to escape Ayotzinapa cover-up charges — remained 'under study' with no concrete advances. The parents of the 43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students had demanded extraditions from all officials involved in the discredited 'verdad histórica' narrative. Mexico has no bilateral extradition treaty with Israel, leaving the case at the discretion of Israeli authorities. Zerón's continued impunity remained one of the most visible symbols of the legal accountability gap in the Ayotzinapa case.
