Mexico's FGR (Fiscalía General de la República) opened a formal investigation into allegations that Israeli businessmen Avishai Neriah and Uri Ansbacher paid approximately $25 million in bribes to Enrique Peña Nieto to secure lucrative contracts for the sale of the NSO Group's Pegasus surveillance spyware and military equipment to Mexican security agencies during his presidency. The FGR stated it would await confirmation from Israeli authorities. Civil society organization Artículo 19 demanded President Claudia Sheinbaum and the FGR fully investigate the alleged bribery network.
