Junta Column Retreats From Zinbon Village Near Shwegu After Heavy Losses to KIA-Led Forces
A Myanmar military column from the 33rd Light Infantry Division, which had been fighting joint resistance forces led by the Kachin Independence Army near Zinbon village, Shwegu Township, since late August, retreated on September 11, 2026 after suffering significant casualties, including officers at battalion command level. The ground fighting formed part of a wider KIA-led campaign to secure the Ayeyarwady River resupply route between Katha, Shwegu and Bhamo, which has separately destroyed at least 14 junta vessels since late August.
