KNU Captures Tatmadaw's Htaw Mu Ple Meh Camp in Papun District After 16-Month Siege
The Karen National Union says its forces have taken full control of the military's Htaw Mu Ple Meh camp (also known as Ler Mu Plaw) in Papun (Mutraw) District, Karen State, under the Myanmar military's Southern Command based in Taungoo, Bago Region. A KNU Brigade 5 spokesperson confirmed the camp had been cleared and occupied. KNU forces cut off the camp's ground reinforcement and supply routes starting in May 2025 and maintained a prolonged siege; after months of pressure, military troops abandoned the position and fled on the morning of September 8, 2026, allowing KNU/KNLA forces to enter unopposed.
