Blast at MNDAA Explosives Storage Facility in Hsenwi Kills or Wounds at Least 15, Including Chinese Nationals
An explosion tore through an explosives storage facility operated by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in Man Mai village, Hsenwi Township, northern Shan State, on September 8, 2026. At least 15 people were killed or injured, including two Chinese nationals, five workers and eight MNDAA members, according to Hsenwi residents. The blast occurred inside the MNDAA compound; Hsenwi has been under MNDAA control since it was seized on January 7, 2024 during Operation 1027. The cause of the explosion was not immediately confirmed.
