PDF FPV Drones Strike Tada-U Air Force Base, Damaging Jets and Shutting Mandalay International Airport

Around 2:00 p.m. on September 10, 2026, People's Defence Force fighters launched six first-person-view (FPV) 'suicide' drones at the military air base within the compound of Tada-U International Airport, roughly 35km south of Mandalay. Resistance sources said the strike damaged four jets, including a direct hit on a Yak-130's nose, while the junta said all drones were intercepted before causing damage. A PDF spokesperson said the attack targeted only the section of the base housing aircraft that have been conducting airstrikes on civilians. Mandalay International Airport, which shares the site, was closed for two days (September 10-12) as a result, disrupting flights and forcing residents of seven nearby villages to flee amid the military's response.
