Junta Fighter Jets Bomb Kyauktan Village in Rathedaung Township
At approximately 9:30am on August 18, 2026, a formation of junta fighter jets dropped bombs on Kyauktan Village, Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State, damaging multiple residences. The strike came a day after junta jets bombed nearby Auk Zee Kaing Village in the same township, marking two consecutive days of airstrikes on Rathedaung. The full casualty toll from the Kyauktan strike remained under investigation as of publication. Local monitors documented at least 31 civilians killed and 35 injured by junta airstrikes and artillery in Rakhine State in the first 16 days of August alone.
