Junta Jet Bombs Auk Zee Kaing Village in Rathedaung Township
Around midnight into August 17, 2026, a junta fighter jet bombed Auk Zee Kaing Village, Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State — an Arakan Army-administered area. Three houses were destroyed. The Arakan Army reported one civilian killed; a separate report (Burma News International) said one resident, 48-year-old Daw Than May Nu, suffered a shrapnel wound to the forehead, with no fatality confirmed — reflecting a casualty-count discrepancy between AA and independent reporting. The strike was the first of two consecutive days of junta airstrikes on the township.
