Junta Kamikaze Drone Strikes Chinese Scam Compound Near Myawaddy — 3 Killed

At approximately 23:30 on March 26, a Myanmar military kamikaze drone struck the 'Kyun Taw' Chinese-operated scam casino compound in Phlu Lay village south of Myawaddy, in an area controlled by the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA). Three Chinese nationals were killed instantly. The strike was notable as it targeted a Chinese compound in a non-junta-controlled zone, reflecting the complexity of the Myawaddy border area where multiple armed actors operate alongside Chinese-run online scam operations. Myawaddy and its surroundings have been a flashpoint for inter-factional conflict between KNU, DKBA, and other groups, compounded by the presence of Chinese scam compounds that have become a source of regional tension and diplomatic concern.
