KNLA Briefly Captures Myawaddy Border Town
Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and PDF forces captured Infantry Battalion 275's headquarters in Myawaddy on April 11, 2024, claiming control of the strategic Thailand-border town. Myawaddy is Myanmar's most important trade corridor with Thailand, handling billions of dollars in annual trade. However, the SAC — assisted by Karen Border Guard Force (BGFK) — counterattacked and KNLA withdrew from the town by April 24. The episode demonstrated resistance capability to threaten major economic hubs.
