Arakan Army Launches Rakhine State Offensive

Exploiting the momentum of Operation 1027, the Arakan Army (AA) launched a simultaneous offensive across Rakhine State on November 13, 2023 — dubbed 'Operation 1027 Phase 2.' Within weeks, AA forces captured multiple towns, police stations, and military bases. The AA's offensive opened a second major front far from northern Shan State, stretching SAC resources across the country. By early 2024, AA had captured most of Rakhine's townships.
