China Brokers SAC–Three Brotherhood Alliance Ceasefire

| Myanmar

China's Foreign Ministry announced a ceasefire between the SAC and the Three Brotherhood Alliance on January 12, 2024, brokered in Kunming, China. The agreement was partly driven by China's concern over disruption to border trade, scam compound operations, and regional stability. The ceasefire was fragile — the AA continued operations in Rakhine State, which it was not part of. SAC accused the alliance of violating the ceasefire within days. Fighting resumed in northern Shan by mid-2024.
