Civil Disobedience Movement Launches Nationwide
Medical workers, civil servants, teachers, and transport workers launched a Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), refusing to work under junta authority. At its peak, hundreds of thousands participated. CDM disrupted government functions, hospitals, banks, and government offices across Myanmar. Security forces threatened CDM participants with arrest, but the movement continued throughout 2021 with many participants eventually joining armed resistance.
