Mexico Reaches Eight Registered National Parties

Somos México and Construyendo Sociedades de Paz (PAZ) began operating as Mexico's newest National Political Parties on July 1, 2026, after the INE's General Council approved their registration on June 26 and denied two rival applicants — México Tiene Vida and Que Siga la Democracia — over irregularities including banned clergy participation and forged membership records. The addition brought the national party count to eight ahead of the 2027 midterm elections, the first expansion of the party system since Morena's 2014 founding.
