Claudia Sheinbaum Wins with 59.4% — First Female President
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo won Mexico's presidential election with 59.4% — the highest vote share in Mexican democratic history — defeating Xóchitl Gálvez (opposition coalition PAN-PRI-PRD) with 28.2% and Jorge Álvarez Máynez (Movimiento Ciudadano) with 10.4%. Morena also won 12 of 9 contested governorships and maintained its congressional majority. The election was Mexico's largest — 98 million registered voters.
