2021 Midterms — Morena Maintains Majority

Morena and allies won 280 of 500 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, retaining a working majority but losing the two-thirds supermajority that would have allowed constitutional reforms. PAN and allies (Va por México) won 197 seats, a significant opposition recovery. The election was marred by unprecedented political violence — 102 political candidates or campaign workers killed. Morena retained state governments in Guerrero, Sinaloa, and Sonora.
