Attack on Indian Parliament — Near-War Crisis
Five gunmen from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) attacked the Indian Parliament building in New Delhi on December 13, 2001. All five attackers were killed but 9 security personnel died. India blamed Pakistan-based militant groups and launched Operation Parakram — the largest Indian military mobilization since 1971. The standoff lasted over a year with both sides mobilizing nearly 1 million troops.
