Indus Waters Treaty Signed Between India and Pakistan
The Indus Waters Treaty was signed by Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistani President Ayub Khan in Karachi on September 19, 1960, brokered by the World Bank. The treaty allocated three eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas, Sutlej) to India and three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab) to Pakistan. It has survived three wars and remains one of the most successful international water-sharing agreements.
