IDF Drone Strike Kills Hamas Khan Younis Brigade Commander al-Yazouri

An Israeli drone strike killed Mohammad Abdul Salam al-Yazouri ('Abu al-Haitham'), commander of Hamas's Khan Younis Brigade, while he was walking in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis around midnight between September 10 and 11, 2026. A Hamas company commander, Hudheifa Muammar, and another brigade member, Muhammad Bahjat Rashi, were also killed in the same strike. The IDF and Shin Bet said al-Yazouri had worked to rebuild the Khan Younis Brigade's capabilities after heavy wartime losses and had helped plan the October 7, 2023 attack; he had survived a previous assassination attempt while hiding in a tunnel with Yahya and Mohammed Sinwar in 2021.
