Israeli Drone Strike Kills Deported Ex-Detainee on Gaza City Motorcycle

An Israeli warplane fired a missile at a motorcycle carrying two Palestinians on al-Rashid Street in the Sheikh Ajlin area, west of Gaza City, on September 9, 2026, wounding both. One of the wounded, Farah Ahmed Hamed, 48, later died of his injuries. Hamed, originally from Selwad village near Ramallah, was a former Israeli prisoner released and deported to Gaza as part of the 2011 Gilad Shalit exchange. Hamas described Hamed as a commander in its military wing and a member of the 'Silwad cell,' which had carried out shooting attacks in the West Bank during the Second Intifada.
