New Freedom Flotilla Mission Sets Sail Toward Gaza, Expected to Arrive in October

| Gaza War

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) said as of early September 2026 that two vessels — Handala II, which sailed through Scandinavia in June-July, and Kate, which departed Bristol in mid-August — are underway on a mission intended to challenge Israel's naval blockade of Gaza. The vessels are stopping at ports in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy before attempting to reach Gaza's shores in October 2026. FFC steering committee member Zohar Chamberlain Regev said: 'The Freedom Flotilla sails again because our governments continue to fail to uphold their obligations. At every port, we will carry the demand that Palestinians be free to live with dignity.' Participants include human rights advocates, peace activists, journalists, medical professionals, and elected representatives; the coalition is demanding safe-passage guarantees, an end to obstruction of humanitarian supplies, and diplomatic and economic measures to end the blockade.
