Gaza City Holds Mass Funeral for 100 People, Including 60 Children, Recovered from Rubble

Palestinians in Gaza City held funeral ceremonies on Sunday, September 6, 2026, for approximately 100 people, including 60 children and 55 members of the Malaka family, whose remains were recovered from the rubble of destroyed buildings in the Zeitoun neighborhood. The remains were carried to al-Ma'madani cemetery for burial. Gaza civil defence head Raed al-Dahshan said 'We don't have equipment, we don't have protective equipment' for rescue workers, while UN human rights official Ajith Sunghay said 'Thousands of people are still languishing under this rubble.' An estimated 8,000 more bodies are believed still buried under rubble strip-wide. Gaza's Health Ministry puts the cumulative death toll since October 2023 at 73,651.
