Trump Announces Board of Peace Agreement on Phased Hamas Disarmament

| Gaza War

President Trump announced that his Board of Peace had reached a "historic agreement" and "monumental step" for the phased disarmament of Hamas and other Gaza armed groups. Under the 15-point roadmap, a detailed disarmament plan must be prepared within 14 days (subject to extension with international-verification-body approval), with weapons handed over sector-by-sector and inventoried/stored by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) under monitoring by the yet-to-deploy International Stabilization Force (ISF); the process is tied to a gradual Israeli withdrawal. Hamas negotiator Ghazi Hamad said the deal reflected "the best possible formula that was achievable" but that Hamas would not implement it unless Israel fulfilled its own obligations, including halting strikes and withdrawing troops. Israel had not publicly agreed to the proposal. Analysts noted the roadmap speaks of weapons "inventory and storage" rather than outright disarmament. Israeli strikes continued the same day, killing at least 6 people including children in Khan Younis, Bureij, and Gaza City.
