On Day 955 of the Gaza war (May 23, 2026), an Israeli airstrike hit a Hamas police post in northern Gaza, killing at least 5 police officers and wounding additional personnel. According to Hamas, two missiles were fired at the post. An IDF spokesperson confirmed the strike targeted Hamas operatives conducting security operations. Separately, the IDF reported destroying three Hamas weapons storage facilities in central Gaza the same day; the warehouses were found to contain anti-tank missiles, firearms, RPGs, combat vests, and ammunition. Secondary explosions confirmed weapons were present at the depots. The IDF said it was continuing its campaign to degrade Hamas military capacity rebuilt during the 212-day ceasefire.
