Ebola Reaches Savo Plain Displacement Site in Ituri, 70,000+ at Risk

| DRC Conflict

Three confirmed Ebola cases were recorded among residents of the Savo Plain displacement site in Djugu territory, Ituri province, health officials said Sept 13. The three symptomatic patients were transferred roughly 20km to Fataki hospital, where testing confirmed infection. The site hosts more than 70,000 displaced people in severely overcrowded shelters — sometimes five to ten people per space — raising fears of rapid spread; response teams including MSF and Medair launched contact tracing while warning that sanitation and prevention resources remain insufficient for the population.
