Ingka Investments Brings 74.9 MW Kingstree West Solar Park Online in South Carolina

Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group (the largest IKEA franchisee), started commercial operations on September 21-22, 2026 at the 74.9 MWac (101 MWdc) Kingstree West solar park in Williamsburg County, South Carolina -- the company's first solar project fully developed in-house. The 178,000-panel facility is expected to generate around 186 GWh a year, equal to the annual electricity use of about 15,200 South Carolina households, fully funded by Ingka with no added cost to ratepayers and an estimated $7.6 million in additional county property tax revenue over the project's life. 'The start of operations at Kingstree West is a big milestone for us, and we are now supplying the grid with new, reliable renewable electricity,' said Frederik de Jong, Head of Renewable Energy at Ingka Investments. IKEA US COO Rob Olson called it part of the company's 'ongoing commitment to reducing emissions while supporting the transition to renewable energy.'
