Ørsted and Nuveen Inaugurate 913 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 Offshore Wind Farm in Germany

Ørsted and Nuveen Infrastructure officially inaugurated the 913 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm on September 23, 2026, about 72 km off the German North Sea coast. The 50/50-owned farm's 83 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines can generate enough renewable electricity annually to cover close to one million German households; it is Ørsted's sixth operational offshore wind farm in Germany, taking the company's German offshore capacity to roughly 2.5 GW (about 25% market share). Around 100 German companies were contracted for development and construction. Ørsted CEO Rasmus Errboe said the farm 'shows what offshore wind can deliver for Germany: large-scale, home-grown renewable electricity for industry and households, built by a European supply chain,' while Nuveen Infrastructure's Jordi Francesch called the inauguration 'a proud moment for Nuveen Infrastructure and our long-standing partnership with Ørsted.'
