Storms Flood Reforma and Chapultepec Corridors, Fell Trees Across 13 of 16 Alcaldías

| CDMX

Heavy rain on the afternoon and evening of August 11 caused flooding, waterlogged streets, and traffic disruption across Mexico City. The Secretaría de Gestión Integral de Riesgos y Protección Civil (SGIRPC) activated a Yellow Alert in 13 of the city's 16 alcaldías. Flooding on Paseo de la Reforma blocked pedestrian crossings and backed up traffic toward Chapultepec; the Secretaría de Gestión Integral del Agua (Segiagua) responded to flooding on Calle Antonio Alzate in the Agricultura neighborhood, Miguel Hidalgo, while Avenida Constituyentes toward Avenida Marina Nacional saw slow-moving traffic from 8:00 p.m. The Sistema de Transporte Colectivo activated slow-speed safety protocols on Metro Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 12 and Line B. Fire crews also responded to fallen trees and short-circuits caused by the storm; no deaths were reported.
