Brugada Marks Youth Prize 2026 With Pledge of 200,000 University Scholarships and Affordable Rental Housing

At the August 12 Premio de la Juventud 2026 ceremony, held around International Youth Day, Jefa de Gobierno Clara Brugada announced her administration would expand university scholarship coverage to 200,000 students this year, with the program set to keep growing toward universal coverage. She also unveiled a pilot of 1,000 affordable rental housing units prioritizing young people and other priority groups, framed as part of a broader youth policy spanning education, housing, employment, emotional wellbeing, culture, and social participation. The announcements came as Brugada presented the Premio de la Juventud 2026 to young honorees recognized for civic and community contributions.
