Unoccupied Metro Line 3 Car Derails at Ticomán Workshop; Metro Blames Rain-Softened Ground
The fifth car of a Metro Line 3 train derailed by about one meter from the tracks at 12:06 p.m. on August 14 while performing maneuvers at the Ticomán maintenance workshop in Gustavo A. Madero, in the rail interchange area rather than passenger service. The train was unoccupied and no injuries were reported. Metro director Adrián Ruvalcaba said initial analysis pointed to 'probable ground condition impact from geological faults and soil softening due to the current rain season,' and crews carried out preventive rail realignment and ballast compaction. Line 3 (Indios Verdes–Universidad) continued normal passenger operation throughout, with no service disruption.
