Seven New Fires Confirmed as NW Ontario Active Count Rises to 62

Ontario's Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services confirmed seven new starts on Sept 3: Dryden 68 (0.1 ha, near Daniels Lake) was extinguished the same day; Nipigon 108 (0.5 ha, near Eskwanonwatin Lake), Fort Frances 69/70/71/72 (0.1 ha each, clustered near Bearpaw Lake and Highway 502) and Thunder Bay 86 (0.1 ha, Max Lake island) remained not under control. The additions pushed the Northwest Fire Region's active count to 62 (9 not under control, 3 being held, 12 under control, 38 being observed). The Rinker Lake Complex — Thunder Bay 36 (301,240 ha), Dryden 34 (45,800 ha) and Dryden 35 (30,158 ha), a combined 377,240 ha — remained not under control with a NOTAM still in effect around Thunder Bay 36.
