Two New Fires Confirmed Near Miller Lake and Detour Lake; NW Ontario Rises to 58 Active

Ontario's Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services confirmed two new starts in its September 2 evening report: Kenora 35, a 0.1-hectare fire north of Glorious Lake about 2.5 km southwest of Miller Lake, not under control; and Red Lake 28, a 0.1-hectare fire at the northeast end of Detour Lake southwest of Lee Lake, also not under control. The additions pushed the Northwest Fire Region's active count to 58 (5 not under control, 3 being held, 12 under control, 38 being observed). The Rinker Lake Complex — Thunder Bay 36 (301,240 ha), Dryden 34 (45,800 ha) and Dryden 35 (30,158 ha) — remained not under control with fire behaviour on the lower end despite visible smoke.
