Central Bank Dollar Sales Pull Official Exchange Rate Back From Record Bs. 12.64

The Central Bank of Bolivia's official dollar rate hit a new record of Bs. 12.64 around Sept. 9-10 before falling for three straight sessions — Bs. 12.42 (Sept. 10), Bs. 12.04 (Sept. 11) and Bs. 11.53 (Sept. 12) — after the BCB temporarily suspended new dollar-purchase operations (Sept. 7), created a Restricted Monetary Reserve under Resolution RD Nº 131/2026 (Sept. 8), and began direct dollar distribution to private financial-system entities (Sept. 9) to ease what it called "unnecessary shocks" in the currency market.
