Paris Peace Conference Opens
The Paris Peace Conference opened at Versailles with representatives of 27 Allied nations. The 'Big Four'—Wilson (US), Lloyd George (UK), Clemenceau (France), and Orlando (Italy)—dominated proceedings. Germany was excluded from negotiations. Over six months, the conference produced five treaties that reshaped the world: the Treaty of Versailles (Germany), Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Austria), Neuilly (Bulgaria), Trianon (Hungary), and Sèvres (Ottoman Empire).
