Ottoman Empire Signs Armistice

| World War I

The Ottoman Empire signed the Armistice of Mudros, ending its participation in the war. Allied forces had captured Damascus, Beirut, and Aleppo; the Ottoman armies in the Middle East had collapsed. The armistice opened the Dardanelles and Bosphorus to Allied warships, allowing supply of Russia. The subsequent partition of the Ottoman Empire through the treaties of Sèvres and Lausanne fundamentally reshaped the Middle East.
