Zelensky Sets Target of 1,000 Long-Range Drones Per Day Against Russia

In his evening address on August 28, President Zelensky called for Ukraine to more than triple its long-range drone strike campaign against Russia, to 1,000 drones a day. 'The task is a thousand drones for long-range strikes against Russia every day. Right now, the average is over 300 of our long-range strikes, there must be more,' he said. He tied the escalation to strengthening defenses against jet-powered Shahed drones and stepping up deep strikes on Russian territory as Moscow intensifies its own aerial campaign against Ukrainian cities. The announcement came the same day Ukrainian forces struck the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl and a Tu-95MS strategic bomber at Engels-2 airbase.
