Russian Jet-Powered Drone Strikes Odesa Region Passenger Train, Killing Two Railway Workers

| Ukraine

A Russian jet-powered Shahed/Geran attack drone struck the locomotive of an Odesa-Dnipro passenger train near Berezivka district as it neared a station, killing the 50-year-old driver and his 41-year-old assistant. All 340 passengers, including 67 children, were evacuated safely by bus with no injuries reported. President Zelensky condemned the strike as targeting 'an ordinary passenger train locomotive,' saying the drone operator could not have been unaware the target was civilian, and renewed calls for stronger air defenses. The strike came amid a wider overnight Russian barrage of 133 drones and separate Ukrainian strikes on a Wildberries logistics hub and Russian port infrastructure.
