Jet-Powered Drones Pound Kyiv Hours After Zelenskyy-Trump Talks, Killing 2

Russia struck Kyiv with a wave of jet-powered attack drones early on September 23, hours after President Zelenskyy's meeting with President Trump at the UN. Drones hit a four-story business center, a gas station and warehouses in the Holosiivskyi district; set ablaze the historic Shayba railway market and hit a nine-story residential building and a transportation company in the Solomianskyi district; and started a warehouse fire in the Darnytskyi district. Railway infrastructure near Kyiv's Central Station was damaged, and drone debris fell between residential buildings. Data centers serving internet providers Pavutina and UTELS were destroyed, cutting internet access for roughly 100,000 households. At least 2 people were killed and more than 40 injured. Ukrainian oil company Ukrnafta said one of the two petrol stations hit was the sixth of its stations attacked in recent weeks. Zelenskyy said "a significant number" of the drones used were jet-powered, which are faster and harder to intercept.
